VENICE — Tidewell Hospice has partnered with Village on the Isle to open an inpatient hospice unit at the continuing-care retirement community in Venice.
The Tidewell Care Center at Village On The Isle will occupy eight of the 64 private suites. It opened Oct. 13, according to a press release.
“When Tidewell approached us about this arrangement, we were delighted,” says Doug Feller, CEO of Village On The Isle, in the statement. “In addition to serving patients and families of the general community, Tidewell will also be conveniently available to support Village On The Isle’s current and future residents, which is a win-win for both our organizations.”
The unit will be staffed 24/7 by Tidewell Hospice clinical professionals. Criteria for admission will be the same as it is for Tidewell’s other care centers and hospice houses. Patients in need of continuous symptom control can be admitted to the Care Center for around-the-clock care while their condition is stabilized. When those symptoms are brought under control they can return to their residence, wherever that may be.
“Tidewell Hospice is honored to partner with Village On the Isle to offer world-class hospice care directly within the senior-living facility,” says Tidewell President and CEO Jonathan Fleece in the statement. “This inpatient unit demonstrates Tidewell’s and Village On The Isle’s never-ending commitment to providing a continuum of health care services to the Venice community.”
The Tidewell Care Center is part of a recent expansion at Village On The Isle that includes the addition of a new 66,000-square-foot Health Center with all private suites and amenities for residents who need around-the-clock nursing care and short-term rehabilitative support.
Tidewell Hospice is an independent, nonprofit health provider that offers a home-centered, comprehensive system of end of life and palliative care for people living with advanced illness and their families.
