Chase Mayhugh, 39

Chase Mayhugh has been working in commercial real estate for more than half his life.

While that may sound like hyperbole, it’s really not.

The senior advisor at Mayhugh Commercial Advisors got his start in the business at 19, when he earned his sales associates license. He got his brokers license two years later.

Mayhugh credits his father Chuck for getting him into the industry at such a young age and teaching him about commercial real estate while working in the family business.

“He has a tremendous amount of background and knowledge,” he says of his father. “He always instilled ethics into everyone in the office, including myself. If it wasn’t for him, I probably wouldn’t be in this business.”

That early start has served Mayhugh well. Today he manages over one million square feet of commercial properties and owns several properties of his own. Over his career, the company reports he’s completed $700 million in transactions, with $35 million booked for the first half of this year. Through his career he has represented Fortune 500 companies, working on sales, purchases and long-term leases.

Chuck Mayhugh, meanwhile, likes how his son took to the business quickly and has been able to establish himself. “You can see he has a passion for it.”

For the younger Mayhugh, one of the most important lessons he learned from his father had nothing to do with the acquisition or disposition of property.

“My dad has always had an incredibly strong work ethic. I think seeing the balancing between family and then work, he did a great job,” he says. “I think it’s easy for me to see it now that I have kids. You work all day and you come home, and it can be rewarding, and challenging at times.”
