TAMPA — A.R. Savage & Son President Arthur Savage has been elected president of the Association of Ship Brokers & Agents Inc., a ship agency and brokerage industry group founded in 1934 and headquartered in New York City.

ASBA member companies, according to a press release, arrange ocean freight and ship agency services for products arriving and departing from ports across the United States, from fuels and fertilizers to vehicles and shipping containers. The ASBA promotes ideals and standards of personal and professional conduct for ship brokers and agents.

Tampa-based A.R. Savage & Son, the release states, will celebrate 75 years in business this year. Savage will continue to serve as president of the firm — which provides ship agency, cargo, advisory and consular services to ship owners and charterers — during his ASBA leadership tenure.

“I am honored to be chosen for president of ASBA,” Savage states in the release. “This is a wonderful organization that for years has played a pivotal role in international commerce and has established high standards of performance, ethics and efficiency to improve shipping the world over.”
