For the second month in a row, Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) has broken its passenger traffic record.
Passenger traffic at SRQ totaled 294,165 passengers in April. The record broke the previous all-time record set in March, with 277,590 passengers, according to a statement. Compared to April 2020, the traffic for April 2021 was up 2,920%.
“It is exciting to see the airport break our record for the highest number of passengers in a single month for the second consecutive month,” says SRQ President and CEO Rick Piccolo in the statement. Pandemic numbers aside, the record also is a 61% increase over April 2019.
“The airlines serving SRQ continue to add new destinations, increase their frequency of flights and add additional seat capacity into our market through the summer months,” says Piccolo in the release. “With 10 airlines providing service to 47 nonstop destinations, we hope the local community can utilize SRQ for their travel plans and experience the convenience of beginning and ending their journey through their hometown airport.”
